About the Course

Dumbarnie Links

Dumbarnie Links opened in June 2020 on a spectacular stretch of linksland along the southern shore of Fife, overlooking Largo Bay and the Firth of Forth. Designed by Clive Clark, the course was built on land that had never previously been used for golf, and Clark used the natural topography — its dune ridges, coastal burns, and sweeping bay views — to create a layout of genuine championship quality.

What makes Dumbarnie so compelling is the combination of scale and naturalness. The course stretches to over 7,200 yards from the back tees, with wide fairways that open up into natural rough and dune country. The routing moves through elevated ridgelines and down into sheltered valleys, with Largo Bay visible throughout and the Isle of May and Bass Rock visible on clear days. The wind off the Firth of Forth is a constant presence, shaping the character of every round.

Dumbarnie has quickly established itself as one of the finest new links courses in Scotland, earning widespread critical acclaim and a place on the European Tour's Scottish Open rota. It sits within the Fife links corridor alongside Kingsbarns, St Andrews, and Carnoustie, making it a natural addition to any serious east Scotland golf itinerary.

The Course

Why It Stands Out

I

Scotland's Finest New Links

Dumbarnie is widely regarded as the most significant new links course to open in Scotland in a generation. Opened in 2020, it has already earned a place on the European Tour rota and critical acclaim from players and course architects alike.

II

Largo Bay and the Firth of Forth

The course sits directly above Largo Bay, with the Firth of Forth, the Isle of May, and Bass Rock visible throughout the round. The combination of coastal panorama and natural dune terrain gives Dumbarnie a visual drama that few new courses can match.

III

Championship Scale and Natural Character

At over 7,200 yards from the back tees, Dumbarnie is a course of genuine championship scale. But its length is matched by its naturalness — wide fairways, natural rough, and dune formations that feel entirely at home in the Fife landscape.

IV

The Perfect Complement to Kingsbarns

Dumbarnie and Kingsbarns sit twelve miles apart along the Fife coast and offer a compelling pairing of modern links design. Together with St Andrews and Carnoustie, they form one of the most complete golf regions in the world.
