About the Course

San Roque Club

San Roque Club was founded in 1990 and designed by Dave Thomas — one of the most respected golf course architects of his generation. The Old Course is set among cork oak trees near the town of San Roque, with views across the Strait of Gibraltar to Morocco, and it is one of the most characterful courses in the Sotogrande region.

The course has hosted numerous professional events over the years, including the Volvo Masters and the Spanish Open, and it has a reputation as one of the most testing and enjoyable courses in Andalucía. The New Course, also on the property, offers a different but equally rewarding experience.

San Roque Club is a full resort destination, with hotel accommodation, spa facilities, and a range of leisure activities that make it an ideal base for a Sotogrande golf holiday. The combination of the golf, the setting, and the resort facilities makes it one of the most complete golf destinations in southern Spain.

The Course

Why It Stands Out

I

Dave Thomas — A Championship Design

Dave Thomas designed the Old Course at San Roque with a clear understanding of the Andalucían terrain and climate. The course uses the natural cork oak landscape with intelligence, creating a layout that is both visually beautiful and strategically demanding.

II

Views to Morocco

From the higher points of the course, the views across the Strait of Gibraltar to the coast of Morocco are extraordinary. The combination of the golf, the landscape, and the light creates an atmosphere that is unique to this corner of Andalucía.

III

Two Courses, One Resort

San Roque Club has two courses — the Old and the New — within a single resort. This variety makes it an ideal base for a multi-day Sotogrande programme, with the option to play different courses on successive days without leaving the property.

IV

The Complete Resort Experience

San Roque Club offers hotel accommodation, spa facilities, and a range of leisure activities that make it one of the most complete golf resort destinations in southern Spain. For groups seeking a full resort experience alongside their golf, it is an excellent choice.
